Charles Thurman Jr aka Charles Thurman Motuzick

Charles Thurman's name was changed to Charles Motuzick. Since the movie debuted Tracey's son has been plagued with problems. According to sources this is most likely due to everything that he witnessed as a small child. Her son CJ is serving out a seven year sentence.  He had already served a 6 1/2 year term in prison. He was on probation at the time of his arrest. Tracy has supported him through all of his run-ins with the law. She appeared at nearly every court hearing that her son has had since his problems began back in 2000. At one court hearing Tracey and her new husband were there to support their son. Tracey was seen crying at the time. The judge in that hearing acknowledged that Cj seemed like a nice guy, and that he needed to make changes in his life. His attorney at the time suggested that Charles Jr.'s problems began after he was involved in an accident and became dependent on medication. His family and friends are all very supportive of him. We wish you luck in your journey Cj. Do know that you are more than what has happened to you, and that you matter.

2004: Motuzick was arrested for (Dgs.)

2005:  he was taken into custody for striking the woman that he was dating at the time.

2010: In March of 2010 he was taken into custody for the same thing.

2010: In August of 2010 CJ Motuzick was apprehended on a Friday night at his home when the SWAT team raided the house in Torrington. His bond was listed at $100,000. He was taken into custody for selling.(..).He was given 7 years to serve.

  2. It's been on TV several times this week, so I DVR'd it to keep. I watched this movie when it first aired, and I still am horrified each time I subsequently see it. It is such a compelling story and every woman should see it.

  4. I can relate to Tracey's story, back in the 80's I was also a victim of abuse at the hands of my husband, and after 13 years of marriage I divorced him and fled the state where I was living with my kids, to only have my husband find me 6 months later. I was always looking over my shoulder and worried he would be right behind me. He had threaten to cut my throat if I ever divorced him, and the police would not do anything, they said unless he hurt me there was nothing they could do. No wonder so many women live in fear of abusive husband's, they do not believe that anyone will help to protect them. But there is hope, help and life after abuse. I became a Cop and my ex backed off. I have tried to help women escape and get the help they need, but there are too many times a woman who was abused will go back to the abuser. This has to stop, women have to understand they do not deserve to be mistreated and learn to stand on their own 2 feet, and with the right help they can.

    1. I was once a victim of abuse as well. My son and I stayed in a DV shelter for 6the months. It was truly heartbreaking to see so many women return to their abusers! I pray every day that God will watch over victims of abuse and give them the strength to stand up for themselves and get out of those situations. I know now that I had to go through what I went through so that I would be able to give strength and hope to others. Praise God that you are in a position to help others now. If you can save just one person, it's all worth it!

  5. Traci, God had to be watching out for you with protection the day your ex-husband stabbed & kicked you! There's no way a human should survive that. I know you had a lot of injuries & still deal with the aftermath of what happened to your body...but you are alive! Thank goodness! Don't doubt God loves & cares for you. I know I do & will be praying for you. Just saw your movie today on lifetime.
Thank you for standing up for women everywhere!

  10. Ihave watched this several times over the years. It is stunning. I am a survivor of abusive husband. I had to move out after saving up money then waiting till he left for work one day and "bugged out". I lived in fear for quite a long time, he threatened to kill me many times. Thanks to Tracey's courage for putting her story out there.

  12. Watchin the movie now and it amazes me just how much times have changed. Watching the scene where the cops did nothing I have to ask were did they get their training from and what that poor kid went threw and saw lord knows the deamons he carries with him. Such a shame he has followed down the same road as is dad but I am sure that stems from what he was raised around. More of these movies should be made to show people that violence still and will always be there.

  13. It was because of this movie that I was able to leave an abusive husband and fight long enough to have it all culminate in a stalking trial where he was convicted. Thank you Tracey, you gave me the hope and strength to fight back.

  14. The first thought that came to me when I heard about C.J.s problems was that he could have delayed-onset PTSD. From the accident, or even possibly from the events he witnessed as a 2-year-old (latent memories?)
Whatever the reasons for his problems, I pray that he overcomes them and has a good life filled with people who love him.

  15. There was an episode of Justice Files from Discovery Channel, (the original) that featured Tracey. I cannot find any episode guides or any youtube videos of it anywhere. I would like to see it again but I can't even find the title of the episode she was on.
